I started a weight loss challenge at Orangetheory Fitness today. I decided I needed to get my act together. And since $2500 is on the table for whoever releases the most weight in this challenge, then I’M READY! I mean, can you blame me? $2500 sounds pretty sweet right about now. Y’all know from my first TMB Project post that I have struggled with my weight for awhile due to PCOS. So not going to lie… This is going to be a challenge. But that’s the whole point, right? For it to be a challenge HAHA.
Sipping on hibiscus tea because I’m an ADDICT. But don’t worry… it’s unsweetened. Hehe.
But ANYWAYS. The weight loss challenge is with Orangetheory Fitness. I just started their workouts last week and I must say, I’m impressed. I honestly love it. And y’all, I’ve taken quite a few workout classes in the past and this one is my favorite (so far LOL). One of the main reasons why I enjoy it so much is because I don’t feel like I’m competing with everyone else… I’m only competing against myself. Now it’s not like I didn’t compete against myself in other workouts, BUT the reason OTF works for me, personally, is because I’m always watching where my heart rate is. When you sign up for OTF classes, you must wear a heart rate monitor specifically designed to go with this technology.
The reason this helps in regards to competition is that instead of focusing on what everyone else is doing, I focus on what my “zone” my heart rate is in! Everyone’s heart rate is up on a screen and the goal of the entire 1-hour workout is to get yourself to 12 minutes in the orange zone. This is because they believe if your heart rate is in the orange zone for 12 or more minutes, you will continue to burn calories up 12-36 hours after the class ends! That is the theory behind Orangetheory!
So now on to the weightloss challenge.
I’m a little nervous, yes. But excited! We are required to keep a food log, which I’m not even going to lie, I HATE writing down what I eat. Who’s really got time for that? Not me.
Or maybe I’m just coming up with excuses! That’s probably it.
Sorry this photo is a bit, well…. ORANGE. LOL. But this is me with one of the coaches, Antonyo! He is also my weightloss challenge team leader! He definitely keeps me pumped throughout the workout, that’s for sure. This photo was taken after my very first OTF workout. I was exhausted hahaha. Funny story behind how this photo came about. I actually ran to the restroom right before the the class ended because I felt like I was going to vomit (yup, it had been awhile LOL) and I came back and Antonyo told me I had missed the group photo!!! Ahhhhh. So of course we had to get one to make up for it! BUT it was awesome and I knew I was coming back! I really do enjoy the concept (or the theory) behind Orangetheory.
BUTTTTT even though I felt dizzy for a moment, I knew I was coming back! I really do enjoy the concept (or the theory) behind Orangetheory.
Like I said, I’ve only been at OTF for about a week and just officially started the weightloss challenge today. I will keep y’all updated, of course! The weightloss challenge is only 6 weeks long so I’m BRINGING IT.
Have y’all ever been to OTF? How did you like it?
