Live video is taking over social media. And while I was extremely hesitant to this at first, it’s really been growing on me. Do I think it’s going to replace edited videos like on YouTube? That’s a good question and it’s definitely hard to say but at this point, I think it’s possible! I’m starting to see that people want to see things happening in real time.

I’ve been going live pretty frequently in my all things beauty Facebook group and my LipSense group. At first, it was super nerve-racking and I was filled with anxiety. I HATE public speaking so that’s what this felt like LOL. BUT since I’ve been doing it more often now, I honestly kind of love it! It might replace YouTube for me! Live videos might be my thing as opposed to YouTube. Y’all know I love filming videos though… especially first impression videos like this one. Yes, I’ll use YouTube as a platform BUT I enjoy going live much more. Here are my reasons why I believe live video will be taking over the social media world.

  1. No editing! Y’all, this is a serious game-changer for me. I cannot stand editing videos. It’s the bane of my existence and drives me crazy. Every time I go to edit videos, I always feel like I need to re-do everything hahaha. And then I end up filming all over again and end up thinking the same thing when it is all said and done! When you go live, there is no editing process to worry about (or uploading!) and it’s just so convenient!
  2. The opportunity for further connection. When you are on any sort of live video, you get to answer questions in real time, see who hops on to watch and what people are saying all in the moment! With YouTube or any other video hosting platform, you go back and answer comments later. What I love about live video is that you can do that right then and there! You get to connect with your audience on a more personal level and that has to be one of my favorite things about it!
  3. There is no pressure (yet) to be “perfect.” Anyone can go live, you guys! I mean, obviously, everyone can upload a YouTube video. But what I mean is that it is more for the average person. It actually reminds me a lot of Instagram. For example, when I think of Instagram, I tend to post my higher quality photos rather than photos I take throughout the day. Same with YouTube. There is almost a “standard” or a “caliber” of how your YouTube videos should be. It’s not like that with live video (yet). I feel like I could hop on a live video wearing a face mask and that would be totally normal. It’s not like that with YouTube. YouTube is definitely more planned out, more professional, and has a more “clean” and “edited” vibe. Live videos do not!
  4. It’s rather convenient. Since I don’t feel like I have to plan out what I’m going to say, wear anything in particular, or have to be in a certain area, live videos have been extremely convenient for me. I’ve recorded a live video inside a ROSS before LOL. I’ve seen people record live videos while they are driving. It’s real time! I also love how you can communicate to your team and/or coworkers with this! You can have live training which I LOVE.
  5. You can invite your friends to go live with you! This stands out to me so much! You see famous beauty bloggers meeting up to work on a YouTube video together… but they can record a live video together no matter where they are! How cool is that?! I was invited to record a live video with my good friend, Maudie, from Made Up Maudie, and we had so much fun tackling the trend that was sweeping the nation… squiggle lips!! Check out the video here if you want a good laugh.

And here is the result from this live video… I mean, doesn’t this look FUN?! Hahahahaha. But on a more serious note, I kinda dig the blue brows LOL.

So there you have it, guys! As you can expect, you will be seeing a lot more live videos from me! For now, it will solely be in my exclusive Facebook groups: BEAUTY & THE MOXIE BABE and MY LIPS ARE SEALED. But who knows… I might expand to Instagram here shortly.

How do you guys feel about live video? Are you a fan or do you wish it didn’t even exist?
