5 Daily Prayers for Every Christian Entrepreneur, Leader & Business Owner

Faith-Fueled

October 18, 2022

I know as a Christian entrepreneur, you desire to keep God at the center of your business, and one of the ways you can do that actively and daily is through the power of prayer. And I know you probably already know just how powerful prayer is. Or perhaps maybe you want to pray, but you’re not really sure what to be praying for in your business, except that you’re praying for your business to have success and produce good fruit.

If this is you, I get it. I was there a few years ago. I logically knew the power of prayer, but a few things were going on. Overall, that knowledge didn’t go from my head to my heart, and it showed.

The first thing that was going on is that I only prayed for my business success because that’s just what I wanted. The scripture says in Matthew 7:7, “Ask and it will be given to you,” and I was doing that even though I was totally taking this verse out of context. It’s actually not about just what we want, like in this physical world, but that is a conversation for another day. So, that was the first thing that was going on.

The second thing that was going on is that I also resisted prayer, in a way. I would talk to God in my thoughts throughout the day but I never actually took the time to devote myself to prayer because I was so “busy” doing everything else I needed to do for my business and my personal life.

The third thing that was going on with me is that I really didn’t know what else to pray except to ask for what I thought I needed or wanted.

I didn’t really take the time to do it because I guess I just didn’t really understand it.

All of that to say, over the last few years, the Lord has really revealed to me five distinct prayers to pray daily as an entrepreneur that from my experience, has the power to truly change everything. And when I say that, I’m really not exaggerating (lol). I’m really not.

These prayers have the power to help you seek God more, to love Him deeper, and to become a better servant, a better entrepreneur, a better leader, and will also help you help others and bring the Holy Spirit to them as well. And the thing is, even if you’re not an entrepreneur, these prayers will still be of value to you, and I highly recommend incorporating them into your quiet time routine or your daily date with Jesus, because prayer is so incredibly powerful.

Let’s dive In!

Reclaimed to Reign Membership

All of that being said, before we dive into the five prayers, every Christian entrepreneur should pray daily, I want to go ahead and let you know that recently, the Lord has been heavily placing on my heart to get the Reclaimed to Reign Membership up and running very soon. Now, if you’ve been listening to this show for a while, then you know that I actually tried to launch this membership earlier this year.

And when I say tried, I mean I actually launched and even had multiple people sign up for it. But the Lord laid on my heart right before it was about to start that it just wasn’t time to start it. So, I literally refunded everyone’s money and I apologized for any inconvenience or disappointment that this may have caused.

And then I actually talked about it a little bit on my podcast. So, if you haven’t tuned into episode 13, I highly recommend doing so, especially if you’re interested in this story. Episode 13 is all about how you know if God is prompting you to pause or to push. And in that episode, I actually shared how I knew that God was telling me to pause versus push, and really just where that was coming from with this membership.

But that being said, the membership is coming so soon, and I am so excited for this. This has just been something that’s been on my heart for a couple of years, like I’m not even exaggerating. So, stay tuned for the launch of that. But essentially, the membership is going to be faith-fueled at its core.

Basically, if you are ready to gain an even deeper relationship with Jesus and break through spiritual warfare and self sabotage in life and business, then this membership is going to be for you.

Power of Prayer

I just have to say that if you get anything from this episode today, please know that prayer is so powerful.

James 5:16 in the Bible says…

“The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective.”

In addition to this, prayer is literally one of two weapons against the enemy. Ephesians 6 in the Bible talks about the Armor of God, and while most of the armor is defense, your offensive weapon is the Sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God, which is the Bible, which is Jesus.

But your other weapon is prayer. Everything else is defensive. The Word of God and prayer is your defense against the enemy. So, don’t throw those under the rug and ignore them because you don’t understand them. Because the truth is, when I pray these five prayers consistently with a pure heart (meaning that my intentions are pure, which is that my intentions are truly to know Jesus, to serve Jesus, and to make Him known), incredible shifts happen.

I truly believe the Holy Spirit will change you from the inside out. God has the power to change anything in an instant.

He literally has the power to change your heart, which actually leads me to prayer number one.

Prayer #1 – Pray that He takes away the obsession that you have with your business, success or money, and replaces it with an even deeper desire to know Him, serve Him, and love Him.

This prayer has been a daily prayer of mine for two or three years now. If you want to hear the backstory on this, I definitely recommend checking out episode one. I talk all about this prayer and I just give all the details of how it started in this episode, but essentially, I just got myself in a financial struggle.

I was just not in a good place. I was not in a good place mentally or financially, and I was obsessed with my business. I was not white knuckling my way through trying to just make it work and do everything that I possibly could. I just remember being out in my backyard at that time and I was bawling because I was doing everything that I could to make this business a success, but nothing was happening.

I was doing everything that I could, and I remember I opened my mouth to actually pray for God to bring me money, but instead, what came out of my mouth was this prayer. The prayer was, “God, please take away this obsession I have with success and replace it with a desire and an obsession to know you, to serve you, to and love you.”

That’s what came out of my mouth, and it was definitely not my intention. It was totally the Holy Spirit. It was not me, because like I said, I was going to open my mouth and pray for money, but that’s not what came out of my mouth.

That prayer changed the trajectory of everything. And ever since then, I have been praying that prayer because I know that I have some workaholic tendencies and I know that my flesh likes to make money a little too much, and my flesh has this tendency to start craving those things.

So, I have to put on the breaks, and I have to pray this every single day because I know this is my first line of defense.

What I’m saying is–please pray for this. And this goes for anything that you have a desire for or an obsession for over Him.

Because here’s the thing.

It’s not wrong to want things. But when you want things more than you want God, that’s when it becomes an idol.

When your thoughts are constantly full of thoughts about your business as opposed to thoughts about Jesus, that is when your business has become an idol.

We have to fight that. We have to pray against that.

So, pray this prayer every single day.

Prayer #2 – Not my will but yours, God.

This prayer is all about taking your eyes and focus off of your will and giving it to God.

Not my strength, not my words, not on my timeline, but yours, God.

It is very easy when you are working on achieving goals or bringing in a certain amount of revenue in your business so you can pay the bills, that you start working in your own strength. That you start using your own words instead of the Holy Spirit’s words, that you start focusing on your own timeline as opposed to God’s timeline.

It’s very, very easy to do, so this prayer is so important to pray every single day because if you have ever worked in your own strength, then you know how exhausting it is. You know that you’re going to get stuck. You know that working in your own strength and not letting the Holy Spirit flow through you brings about anxiety, stress, burnout and overwhelm.

Pray this prayer, “God, not in my strength, not my words, and not on my timeline but yours.”

Prayer #3 – Pray for God to open the doors He wants opened and to shut the doors that He wants shut

This prayer is especially important when you are talking to potential clients.

I actually pray a version of this prayer right before I get on a sales call. Also, when I’m on a sales call, I pray this prayer with my potential client. This is because at the end of the day, we do not want what God does not want for us.

I mean, just keeping it real… Why would we want that?

We want what He wants for us, not what He doesn’t.

If someone is not meant to work with you, then pray that God shut that door. I promise that is what you want.

I think it’s really easy for us to just pray something like, “Oh God, please let this person become a client. Please, please, please.”

But what if they’re not meant to become a client? What if they’re not meant to?

Pray that God opens the doors He wants open and shuts the doors He wants shut.

Prayer #4 – Pray for the overflow of the Holy Spirit and for Him to sanctify you

Pray that you are overflowing with the Holy Spirit and for Him to sanctify you.

Sanctification is essentially the outworking of the Holy Spirit in a believer’s life. The purpose of it is to cultivate Christian character. It’s to transform us more and more into the likeness of Christ, and it is a process. It is literally known as the process of sanctification or the sanctification process.

But why are we praying for this? Well, for one, don’t you want to be transformed? Don’t you want to be more like Christ? We have to be transformed. We have to be sanctified. And two, Jesus actually prayed to God for our sanctification.

Jesus’ prayer in John 17:21 says…

“That they may all be one just as you Father are in me and I in you, that they also may be in us.”

Jesus is praying for our unity, but really that unification is only possible when you are sanctified. To become one, we must be sanctified. At the end of the day, Jesus is praying for our unification. Therefore, He is also praying for our sanctification.

So, why not also pray that prayer? Why not also pray for sanctification and unification, and for the Holy Spirit to overflow in us and flow into the world?

Prayer #5 Pray for your community to be filled with the Holy Spirit and be sanctified

Pray for your clients, your customers, your team, your coach, your mentor, and your community.

Pray for the Holy Spirit to fill them and for them to be sanctified. You can intercede on their behalf just as Jesus did for you.

Next Steps

Now all of that to say, this wraps up the five prayers. Every Christian entrepreneur should pray daily, but if you want more content like this and you want to step up in your business with more clarity and alignment than ever before, then make sure you check out the free three-day devotional experience for Faith-Fueled entrepreneurs called ROOTED.

In this devotional experience, we cover God-sized dreams versus fleshly desires. We cover money and money mindset as a Christian entrepreneur, and we cover surrendering what’s keeping you stuck. So, things like comparisonitis or imposter syndrome. We’re going to talk about these things, so if you want to get access to that, you can get this sent straight to your inbox by going to bit.ly/threedaydevotional.

Once you go through the three-day devotional experience, please just reply to one of the emails and let me know your thoughts. It would truly mean the world to me, and I just always love knowing just how God is just working in you.

So all that to say, I hope to see you in my inbox soon, and also on the waitlist for the membership.

But until then, I will see you next time, friend.
